Steampunk: is a sub-genre of speculative fiction, a Victorian view of the future. Think Jules Verne, Mary Shelley; The League of Extraordinary Men, Frankenstein, The Time Machine. Its also refers to a style of art, fashion, books..... Snowdown: a 5-day winter celebration of over 100 events held in Durango Colorado each year at the end of January, with a mission to promote FUN, Commerce and Tourism in Durango. The original Cabin Fever Reliever. Each year has a different theme, submitted by the public and voted on by the board of directors. Put together, they incorporate some of the best of the Old West and Victorian aesthetics here (the train, the Victorian=era downtown), with the fun nature and creativity of the residents of Durango.
