Steering head grease nipple modification. This is an easy job for anyone who can drill and thread a hole. If new to drilling and threading, practice on a piece of mild steel plate until youre up to speed and Bobs your uncle. This one requires simply drilling a hole in the right side of the frame into the steering head tube. Thats the tubing or pipe welded into the front of the frame which supports the steering head bearings. Bearings are close to top and bottom so I just drill about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. I like this spot because one can reach with a grease gun without removing anything, no cables or wiring in the way and allows an HID ballast space to be mounted to the frame above it. The first greasing takes quite a bit of grease- 1/4 to 1/3 of a tube- but after that just one or two shots. The grease fills the frame tube between the tube and the steering shaft. This prevents water and abrasives from entering and provides a nice mild steering damper effect. The first warm day will see some grease spurge around the bottom and sometimes top which just need wiping off. Lots of these done here and web group members with 100% happy. I dont recall every having to do a steering head bearing adjustment after this modification. https://dropbox/s/fir8ftyzyr3as83/Steering%20head%20grease%20nipple.jpg?dl=0
