Step up to help launch new walking group. A NEW walking group is being set up to help people explore the area around Hartlepool’s Seaton Dunes and Common – and the search is on for more volunteers to help lead it. The group is being started by the Friends of Teesmouth, Seaton Dunes & Common - which aims to help safeguard these unique places – and is being supported by Hartlepool Council’s Sport and Recreation Team as part of the Council’s existing ‘Walk About In Hartlepool’ walks programme. Anyone interested in getting involved – especially as a walk leader - is invited to come along to the Friends’ next meeting on Tuesday 13th January at 4.30pm in Seaton Carew Library in Station Lane. Rachael Graham, the Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Officer, said: “It’s envisaged that the Friends’ walking group would be run on a monthly basis and be open to experienced walkers and novices alike. “It will be a great opportunity for people who want to explore the fascinating Seaton Dunes area, make some new friends and get a bit fitter into the bargain. “We are delighted to be working with the Friends to help get the walking group off the ground and we hope people will come along to next week’s meeting to find out more and show their support.” Anyone who can’t get to the meeting but would like more information should contact Rachael Graham on 01429 284414 or [email protected]
