Stepping on bodies for five kilometers. Why have we let this world come to this? We build our small and safe Western community and only associate with those whom we agree. We insulate our minds against any dissonance so that we do not experience that dreaded sense that somehow what we believed about the peaceful religion of Islam was wrong. But, we say, I met this really nice Muslim taxi driver at the Vancouver airport and he was great. We stay on one news channel for life. The last history book we read was a textbook in college. We accuse anyone presenting different evidence about the ideology of Islamism, evidence which challenges our safe, naïve beliefs of being judgemental, intolerant and fear mongering and well, just too darn negative for Facebook. This approach to evidence which challenges the beliefs we hold, which we trust to keep us safe, is how Islamism has once again been able to gather strength and momentum and resurrect the same demonic violence it used to conquer for centuries. When we read about the bodies this ideology produces as it rampages, we cannot face the significance of it. That would mean we ourselves are not as safe as we thought. The American State Department wants us to believe this nightmare bleeding out almost the entire Middle East and African continent is all because of a failure to facilitate fair elections somewhere. Institutionalized Denial. Our minds and our politicians leave us defenseless. This cancer will only stop when we in the west have to walk on bodies for kilometers.
