Sterilize calabashes - Erotoo Emalasin - Loriento / Lorien - is a romatic stick that will be burned at the tip and contains no toxic compounds when burned. Lorien is burnt until embers form inserted smouldering stick smoky flavour into the calabash to sterilize it. Quickly secure the cap ( lkupiri / soote ) and then swirl it around gently for about a minute. This will allow the smoky flavour to fill the calabash. Thereafter left to settle for sometime then whisking out the vessel after it was sterile ( Amusuut mala ) , presumably , this is done to remove any excess soot by use of cows tail hair ( Lkidongoe ) . Types of Loriento differ by locality and mostly used romantic sticks are from this plants named , Lngeriyoi ( Olive tree ) ,Lmasei, Ljilima, Lkigeriyai, Nkasootok eitii, Ldumei, Lamanira and silapani. add any other.
