Steve Albinis optimism in this speech about the current state of the music biz is refreshing. I can relate (and agree) with most of it. But, I also agree with one of the commenters that argues: On the one hand he acknowledges that ethics belong in music, that bands have a right to make money and that they shouldn’t be stolen from. And then he says that there’s no stuffing the genie back in the bottle, that digital music theft is okay now because it’s just too hard to do anything about... Just that it’s a state of lawlessness that happens to be working for his particular tastes as a consumer and status as a band-member and recordist with enough legacy left over from that OTHER, dead system that he’s able to make amounts of money that he’s comfortable with. theguardian/music/2014/nov/17/steve-albinis-keynote-address-at-face-the-music-in-full
