Steve Brown has been spamming Pacifica members, making one wonder who gave him a list, but whats interesting in his latest bit of gristly pink meat is that he wants Pacifica to give the government a say in its operations by giving it a seat and a vote. His canned spew is supporting Randy Credico for NY Governor, and one of Credicos stated promises is to Subsidize independent non-corporate media like WBAI-Pacifica – YES! As we know, when NY forks over $25, it becomes a Pacifica member, with voting and election rights. Realistically, however, any governmental agency that actually provides subsidies (as opposed to CPB, which offers grants) generally seeks a seat at the table as both a quid pro quo and as a monitor on how the group spends taxpayers money. As Brown elucidates: He needs your help to win before he can start revitalizing New York. And he is the only candidate pledged to support independent public media like WBAI. On the one hand, it might be a good idea to have a government agency sitting on the PNB to keep people in line and honest; on the other hand, it also means a vote against any criticism of governmental agencies at any level. Oh, Steve Brown! You are so much consternation without even knowing what you are doing!
