Steve Reich has given the contemporary musical world a license to groove, writes The Guardians Tom Service. Reich draws on African drumming techniques for his Music for Pieces of Wood, which will be featured on the next edition of the Pershings Own Chamber Music Series. Percussionists from The U.S. Army Concert and Ceremonial Bands present this and other works for traditional and world music percussion instruments.
