Steve did actually have a heart attack Saturday morning. He had another one Saturday night. Not major drop dead attacks but warning bells that a big one was on its way. We had a rollercoaster ride at the hospital from him getting to come home to having a stink put into his heart a few hours later. Hes settled into a recovery room and aside from being pretty pissed off that he cant eat until tomorrow hes OK. The surgery is going to change his life for the better. Hes had blocked arteries for years so the difference should be dramatic. So. He isnt going to die. Everythings all right. Im not a flowery kind of Christian. No one gets a pass on loss. It might not have been alright. Theres no such thing as fair, so when I thank God I thank Him in the most severe kind of way. It easily could have been different and I am thankful that the alternative wasnt His plan today. Im thankful for patience and mercy. And Im thankful that I can curl up on the couch, let the adrenaline wear out and cry my night away. Tomorrow will be full of welcome home shopping.
