Steve signing in at 7:17 AM. Clear skies and fairly mild temperatures this morning, ranging from 47° at Marion and Brindletown to 63° at Hickory Regional. Big news this morning concerns what might happen next Saturday and Sunday mornings (Nov 1 and 2) but more on that later. Today will be sunny and warm with a west-northwesterly breeze this afternoon and high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Monday and Tuesday will likewise be warm with mostly sunny skies, maybe a bit more clouds Tuesday afternoon and winds shifting around to the south-southwest, highs Tuesday may break the 80° mark. Those southerly winds will signal a change in the weather for the latter half of the work week into the weekend. We should see more clouds and cooler temperatures Wednesday, possibly low 70s, with the slightest chance of a shower in the afternoon as a cold front sweeps through. Temperatures Thursday and Friday will continue to trend downward with highs Friday only in the low 60s. Halloween evening is likely to be seasonably chilly with temperatures in the 40s. Depending on which model you look at (and there is not a lot of agreement among the models yet) next weekend may be the end of our growing season. At a minimum, there is an increasing chance that everyone in the 4 county area will see at least some frost with temperatures bottoming out in the low to mid 30s. If the European Model pans out, we could actually see a hard freeze, maybe some 20s in the mix, but right now the Euro seems to be out there on its own. Being seven days away, I would tend to believe that the first widespread frost is possible, with the possibility of freezing temperatures in the higher elevations. At any rate, it is likely to be noticeably colder with highs Saturday only in the mid 50s.
