Steven P. McWilliams, 51, Minot, ND, formerly of Walled Lake, MI, died Friday, September 20, 2013, in a Minot hospital. Steven Paul McWilliams was born on December 18, 1961, the son of Lee Roy and Mary Louise (Kamin) McWilliams. Steven enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 9, 1987. He was honorably discharged on October 11, 1988. Following his honorable discharge, he earned a degree in Nursing, and worked as a Registered Nurse in Michigan. He later worked as a social worker/registered nurse at a Children’s camp for children with mental disabilities in Michigan. He moved to Minot in 2001, where he served and volunteered at the Harmony Center. His passion being was the care and well being of children with mental disabilities. Surviving family includes: mother, Mary Lou McWilliams, Commerce, MI; brother, Mark (Suzanne) McWilliams, South Lyon, MI; sisters, Deborah (Philip) Parker, Walled Lake, MI, and Carol Daily, White Lake, MI; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his Minot family. Steven was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Blanche and Paul Kamin; paternal grandparents, Helen and James McWilliams. A Celebration of Steven’s life will take place at the Harmony Center in Minot at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Harmony Center, 212 E. Central, Minot.
