Stiff Opposition against Jispa Hydel Project in Lahaul Spiti Keylong(LS) 16-07-2014 People from over 10 villages coming under the submersion area of the project strongly opposed it and have threatened agitation. The public hearing held at to seek peoples opinion on setting up the 300 MW Hydel Project in Jispa turned with people hailing from many affected villages,opposing the project in unison. According to local villagers ,the public hearing meeting held today under chairmanship of local MLA and also attended by HPPCL, MD Sh B K Sharama saw stiff opposition for project. After giving a patient hearing to the public assured them that he would communicate their sentiments to the government for necessary action. Sh. Rigzin Hyarppa, ZP is spearheading this agitation since 2010. Sheli Project Sangharsh Samiti (SPSS) convenor, Sh.Sudershan Thakur said that our full support is with Jispa Sangharsh Samiti and all affected villagers, and said unity of people is supreme.
