Still No Definite Contract Between ALECO and San Miguel Twenty - TopicsExpress

Still No Definite Contract Between ALECO and San Miguel Twenty four days after the referendum on ALECO’s options for rehabilitation, no contract has been finalized between the electric cooperative and San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corporation. The negotiators are still dueling on the terms. This is the revelation made by Engr. Mary Rose Naparam, Technical Division head of ALECO during the meeting between Union and Management in the National Conciliation and Mediation Board today. Engr. Naparam, according to ALEO, was asked by Atty. Ian Macasinag, member of the ALECO Interim Board of Directors, to shed light on the provisions of the “contract” pertaining to benefits of ALECO employees. Not finding them in the Technical and Price Bids, Atty. Macasinag obliged Engr. Naparam to explain. The latter admitted that there is yet no contract between ALECO and San Miguel. If such is the case, then what did the pro-PSP brandish during the roadshow from September 2 to 6 all over the Province of Albay? What did Atty. Jose Vicente Fernandez argue during the debates in Bicol University, DZLG and DWZR? What did the mayors and Gov. Joey Salceda meet the barangay captains for shortly before the referendum? What was the vote-buying, voter hauling, relocation of voting centers and misuse of government resources all about? What did 5000+ people vote for? These and more are the questions that demand answers now that the pro-PSP proudly claim they won the referendum. As for AMSSO, we have declared that we did not lose the referendum; the pro-PSP just succeeded in using foul means to subvert the interest of member-consumers. The pro-PSP did everything to get a higher vote count. Now the pressure is on them. They have to show very soon that PSP can solve the problems of ALECO. It has been 24 days but the cooperative is not in better shape. In fact, the debt has mounted even more because the September payment to PEMC was shouldered by San Miguel. Money is flowing from San Miguel to the other power producers. Until when can San Miguel bleed financially for ALECO? Worse, brownouts unpredictably occur anywhere in the province. ALECO is not getting any better after September 14. It is getting worse. In a way, PSP’s winning of the vote count is proving good for C2C. It has allowed the unmasking of PSP. As the saying goes, be careful with what you wish for; you just might get it. San Miguel Corporation, welcome to your worst nightmare! October 8, 2013
