Still, in sleep, stretched in the dark, doorway dim, a low life - TopicsExpress

Still, in sleep, stretched in the dark, doorway dim, a low life spark. Man or woman hard to tell, homeless though, a sickly smell. Times so tough, to end up here, betrayed, abandoned? Nothing clear. Many more now spread around, bundled close, their sleep seems sound. Winters chill is settling in, no fires to warm their cold within. I wander through these city streets, awake, aware, compassion deep. Does how I feel reach out to them? And will my prayers comfort cold skin? This I ask, this cold dark night, as I walk until dawns light. Yes many know of sufferings deep, before we learnt of wisdoms keep. And so compassion walks with me, and prayers flow on so all can be, so loved, so warm in winters chill, their hearts so free from all lifes ills.
