Still more Colbert: Colorados Republican senatorial candidate, Rep. Cory Gardner, has recently come under fire for sponsoring the federal personhood bill, which states: ... the right to life ... is vested in each human being at the moment of fertilization [or] cloning.... [CLONING? Yes, every new life is entitled to personhood even if its just a clone intended solely as a source of backup organs. - SC} Stephen then played a clip of an interview of Rep. Gardner in which he was asked, If you dont support personhood legislation, why do you keep your name on the Life Begins at Conception Act at the federal level? To which Rep. Gardner angrily replied three times, relying on Rule One of the GOPs Campaign Playbook: There is no such thing as a federal personhood bill. There is no such thing as a federal personhood bill. There is no such thing as a federal personhood bill! At which point, Stephen held up Rep. Gardners federal personhood bill for all to see and conceded: Okay, There is no federal personhood bill. Its settled. This bill that Gardner co-sponsored in fact doesnt exist. Then he placed the bill on the table; waved a red cloth over it; and it disappeared. Until an intern who was holding the bill stood up from behind Stephens desk and walked away.
