Still not 100 percent but certainly well beyond the door of death. - TopicsExpress

Still not 100 percent but certainly well beyond the door of death. I want to take this time to thank each and everyone of you for your kind words, calls of encouragement, thoughts and prayers. It is still a mystery to me how something as insignificant as a little ole spider could wreak such havoc in ones life. It started out being nothing more than an insect bite on my hand. Debbie was concerned and begged me to see a doctor, but being the He Man I am I had an attitude. I even kidded her after she freaked when she saw the swelling and that red streak creeping up my arm. With a grin I told her Mama always said if that streak reached your heart you would die. I honestly always thought that was just something old folks told us kids to scare us into taking better care of our wounds. Two days later my hand had doubled in size and that red streak was now above my elbow and well on its way to my arm pit. It was not too far from my heart, but I still was not worried. Debbies prodding and the constant throbbing of my arm and hand finally convinced me to take her advice and see a doctor. Of course I acted like I was going just to please her and I was not afraid, but to be honest with you I sorta was. She even drove me. I think fearing I might just loop the block, fake the doctors visit, and come back telling her he said just keep soaking it in Epson Salt. I did not tell her at the time but driving me was very good thinking on her part. In any case the doctor took one look at those two distinctive fang marks with the flesh around them now beginning to rot away, and said, Spider Bite. He then had his young nurse harpoon me in the rear with two shots only meant for a race horse. Before I left he told me to come back tomorrow. As Debbie drove me back to work I admit I was not not feeling so spiffy. The realization I had been bitten by a spider, possibly a Brown Recluse or a Black Widow, combined with the throbbing arm and now my butt, was beginning to take its toll on my body and my nerves. I felt bad enough to leave work for the first time in many, many years. The throbbing hand and arm, rapid pulse, shortness of breath, anxiety and sweats finally turned to chills and fever. It was very hard not to think about dying since I had a friend who did. (die of a spider bite) By Sunday night my lips had begun to swell and my feet (only the soles) were almost too swollen to walk. Shamefully this never get sick, never go to the doctor, He Man was forced to trade his tough guy persona for that of a whiny scared little boy. Thank God for your prayers. I mean each and every one of you. Late Sunday night my fever broke, the throbbing stopped, and the swelling began to subside. I do not consider such a miraculous recovery just a coincidental thing. How can I not thank you all for your prayers. Love and Hugs to you all! In the mean time if you see any spiders, Dont Mess With Em!
