Still not 100% sure why my machine was throwing a fit over the topstitching thread, but my mamas machine handled it just fine - no weird tension issues, and minimal skipping (and what skipping there was, was probably due to the machine freaking out over the multiple layers at a seam junction). Hooray! The bicep cuffs are nearly done, I just need to pick up a couple of buckles. Been doing some light reading on how to tarnish brass hardware - no supa shiny bits for this costume, thank you. Belt pieces are nearly ready for molding, just need to trim them out from the baseboard and clean them up a little. Looking forward to casting these, they should look gorgeous. Also managed to get the corset together…theres still some nasty stitching visible right at the waist at the side seams, but therell be a belt over those, so meh. For a first attempt at a leather corset, I can deal! The leather is a shell layer, backed with a poly blend from my stash for strength. I used this for the lining as well, which is where Ive got the boning channels - I didnt want these visible from the outside. Sadly my boning is still in transit, so I wont be able to finish this up properly for a little while. Im hoping to have it close with a zip at center front, but well have to see how that goes…thank you, CD Projekt Red, for designing a corset with NO visible closure!!
