Still on PDP Crisis: Atiku factional PDP Secretariat offices to remain closed -Court All offices of the factional Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, being chaired by Abubakar Baraje will remain closed, pending the determination of the suit filed by PDP chairman, Bamanga Tukur, Justice Elias Chukwu has ruled. Already, Police commands across Nigeria has been implementing the decision of the Abuja Federal High Court that declared that status quo be maintained by all parties. Ruling on friday in Abuja, Justice Chukwu said that was no reason to vary his ruling on the matter. Justice Chukwu directed all parties involved in the matter to consolidate their originating summons and preliminary objections to be argued next friday. Counsel to Bamanga Tukur, Tochukwu Onwugbufor said that with the position of the court, there was no reason for the PDP to move its motion for interlocutory injunction. He said that the status quo will continue to be maintained as directed by court. He said the issues before the court will be decided based on the constitution. A lawyer from the Chambers of Ahmed Raji, council to Abubakar Atiku stated that the court should hear the issue of jurisdiction which his team is raising before hearing the originating summons. It will be recalled that several foreign based online media had misled Nigerians into believing that the Police illegally closed down the secretariat of the Atiku faction of PDP secretariat in Abuja. The Atiku faction approached a Lagos High Court to re-open their secretariat, but the court declined. On thursday, Governor Amaechi and his supporters tried to open a factional secretariat, but they were stopped by the police. The governor, thereafter claimed he was trying to use the back door to enter the Government House. The PDP is asking the Abuja Federal High Court to determine whether it is legal for a splinter group to use the name, logo and slogan of an existing party to start a new political party.
