Still shocked and so sad that Joan Rivers is gone! This is the raw radio interview my friend Gail and I did with Joan Rivers in the tiny bathroom of her dressing room at The Westbury Music Fair-- sticking a mic in her face as she put on her mascara. You can get real insight into what Joan was really like --funny, charming and of course very nice. She granted us an interview because we were college students on our schools radio station and newspaper and wanted to give us a break. The interview ends around 10:46, and then the rest of the tape is us hanging out with her laughing and talking about lots of things -- celebrities we found annoying, fashion, women and success -- and equal rights -- a hot topic back then. Gail and I talked about society marginalizing women by their looks and told her we usually wore T-shirts and jeans. Joan looked us over questioned our insistence that we downplayed our appearance, saying that we were dressed really cute. Then she asked us, Have you ever bought something to make yourself look ugly, so theyll notice you for your mind? She stumped us with that one and her response is typically hilarious Joan Rivers.
