Still stunned by the verdict on Saturday night, not surprised, just stunned that in 2013 there is such a blatant disregard for the life of a young African American male. We live in a society that basically said his life did not mean anything. How sad especially when we believe we have come so far. Truly we have not moved as far from 1955 as we thought. What does that mean for us as African Americans? I know God is the ultimate judge, justice will be done because he rules in a far different way than humans. That is just so hard to remember when we are faced with such obvious dislike for us as a people. I have a 15 year old son who likes to wear hoodies, how do I continue to protect him?
