Still the biggest news story seems to be the annoucement of United Dehubbing cleveland. Now I know a few people involved or formerly involved with United in some form and they have not commented on the validity of the report. However, it certainly seems as though it is a true statement. So if it is what is in Cleveland Hopkins future? Well I have done a little research. Delta airlines just recently dehubbed Memphis airport. Close to us I do not see why Delta would want to take over cleveland when they just closed another one of theres. American airlines is still in their merger with U.S. and are probably more concerned with getting that done. So what does that leave us? Southwest, Jetblue and Frontier. Southwest in their entire history has had very few non profitable years. They are just finishing their merger with Airtran. They tend to prefer smaller airports which actually lean them towards akron canton airport and not cleveland. but southwest loves to try to new things. Jet Blue does not have a hub anywhere near here. The closest is JFK. So they may want to opportunity to move into this area. Frontier also is not near this area. So unfortunately for those of you who want major airlines here none of the big three look like they are in any shape to come here. The three low cost though could put a bid in. I also just read that southwest/airtrain will basically take over pittsburgh airport.. So that may eliminate Southwest leaving us with Jetblue or Frontier or being what pittsburgh was a hubless airport... good luck cleveland. At least akron has southwest and is a smaller easier airport... you all might want to consider that.
