Still time to make 2014 tax - deductible donations to Carry the Fallen / Active Heroes to fight Veteran suicide. Current rate of veteran suicide: 22+/day, over 8000/year. Http://fundraise.activeheroes.org/jruck This is a tough time of the year for ANYONE that is suicidal or suffering from severe depression / mental trauma. Take care of yourself, stay positive and check in on friends and family. Also, any of you can call me through the messenger call app if you are in rough spot and need an ear. Just another method. Otherwise, if you are in a bad spot the guaranteed way to get a hold of my is to CALL my cell (text is ok, but a text wont wake me and may go unnoticed for a few hours). If, for some reason, i dont pick up IMMEDIATELY, i will call you back promptly. My cell is 706-536-6146. I am not a licensed anything, but i am pretty good at cheering people up or finding help. Whatever you tell me in confidence will remain private (unless i firmly believe you will hurt yourself or others). Also, there is confidential help at the Veteran Crisis line, 1-800-273-8255(TALK) and press 1. Their website has other means of contact and other resources: veteranscrisisline.net If you arent a veteran, this number is still good to call 24/7... just dont choose option 1. On a sidenote, i hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I have been a little out of touch on facebook and will remain so for a few more weeks due to my move and transition from my medical retirement. I will check in and try to catch up on messages periodically. I am doing well... i am continuing my treatment and trying to rest and relax as much as possible in between packing and planning. I do have health issues, but am doing as well as can be expected and the chemotherapy seems to be keeping tumor growth and spread in check for the most part. I am also in good spirits despite having to leave many friends in New England and the tedious details of the transition. Ensure you have a SAFE (and happy) New Years. Dont drink and drive and be cautious of other drivers that may likely be impaired.
