Still working on my diplex. However, I have a question regarding amplifiers. I have an Icom IC-28H in which the finals are bad. How bad? Power output tests out at a maximum of 3w PEP. I would like to increase that to either 25w or 30w. I know that fixing the finals would give me the radios max output of 75w PEP. However, fixing the finals may be beyond my skill level. Thus my query. Would it be possible to build a simple amplifier, even a tube based unit, to bump up my output to somewhere between 25w and 30w? I am planning to use this radio as a base station as I recently picked up an Alinco 509 at a recent ham radio swap meet (thus my building a diplex). I would appreciate any advice given.
