Stimuli. Its the driving force behind all action. We see slogans instructing us to just be ourselves, but what, and who we are is completely dependent upon the stimulus provided by social feedback. To live completely independent of this would be the equivalent of mental instability. We wouldnt have the necessary social skills to navigate successfully through the world, be a productive member of society, or simply survive. So I cannot tell you to be yourself, but I will tell you to choose a template for your life that you can respect, that inspires others to not pull punches when faced with life altering decisions, and to lead an existence that, when your remaining days are few, you can look back upon without regret and be proud of the legacy, and template, youve left for others. Weve been blessed with much in this world, living each day with a thankful heart is definitely part of my template.
