Stock Taking FAILURES Thomas Alva Edison was one of the greatest inventors the world ever saw. Amongst his numerous inventions was the first commercially practical incandescent light. It is said that Mr. Edison counted 1,200 experiments before he struck a success. After his final discovery, he was asked why he pressed on and never quit. What he said was instructive. Edison said he had found many ways that doesnt work and one way that works. Many years ago, scientists used to scream ‘eureka!’ when they made a discovery. But what many of us don’t read in the fine print of their discoveries are their failures. There can never be any ‘eureka’ without failures. They are part of the journey of life. Whoever is alive will experience failures. Whilst success teaches; failure instructs. Late American business philosopher Jim Rohn once said that it is as good to learn from successful people as it is to learn from failures. How have you learnt from your failures? For me, I have learnt to give quick feedback to my bosses. Hoarding feedback caused me some levels of failures. I want to entreat you today to learn from your own failures and that of others. Learn what hasnt work well and determine never to walk that same path again. Remember: lack of knowledge of failure could cause failure. Enjoy today. December 2014, Daily Knowledge for Living
