Stone Dominoes Red, Away, 16/11/2013 Stone Dominoes Red u9’s 7–0 Newcastle Town u9’s Stone Dominoes Red u9’s 4–2 Newcastle Town u9’s (Josh Onions 2) A strong performance from the league leaders and undefeated Stone Dominoes Red condemned Newcastle Town u9’s to a 7-0 defeat. The away side held their own during the first half but Stone were too strong in the end. The game began with Castle pressing Stone from the off, not giving them any time on the ball, and putting together some smart passing moves. Stone did find a breakthrough on the seven minute mark with a well worked goal. The game then turned in the home sides favour in controversial fashion. Castle striker Josh Onions drove at the defence going past two defenders but was bought down on the edge of the box with just the keeper to beat. Harley Cole then missed the resulting free kick and the clear denial of a goal seemed to end Castles confidence. Two goals followed before half time and although Castle were spirited in the second half Stone ran out 7-0 winners. Newcastle Town displayed a tremendous amount of team spirit as they went down 4-2 away at Stone Dominoes Red. After falling three goals behind midway through the first half the game looked over. However the away side pulled together and mounted a spirited comeback. Aiden Mellor went on a run down the right wing and fired in a low cross. Josh Onions then made a clever run across the defender and converted the ball home. Castle continued to press and another Mellor cross was slotted home by Onions. As the home side looked rattled a laps in concentration in Castles defence allowed Stone to score and go in two up at the break. Castle held strong in the second half but couldn’t find the final ball and Stone managed to sneak home 4-2 winners. Castle will take huge confidence from the game and will take heart from the fact that no other team have come as close to taking a point from Stone this season. Report by Harry Everist
