Stop Racing And Start Resting 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Do you ever feel that you are weighed down with all that is before you? If there has ever been a fast paced society, it is ours. There never seems like there is enough time or enough energy to accomplish all that we set before us. Many of us take responsibility for things and people and place it on our own shoulders. We are always trying to make those around us happy (which is impossible). We are always thinking that we could’ve done something better or that we didn’t measure up to what we were supposed to be. In short, we are overwhelmed with false guilt because we haven’t accepted that we are totally accepted by God in Jesus Christ. We have a Loving Father Who takes full responsibility for His children when we are seeking to do his will in every situation, not in our strength, but in the strength of the Holy Spirit. Jesus has never asked us to have it all together or fight any battle in our strength. God wants us to stop carrying the weights of responsibility and place it in His loving hands. There was a time in my life where I felt that I just couldn’t do enough for God. I always felt guilty that I had not done enough or messed up in some way. If I prayed with 6 people, I should’ve prayed with 7. If I prayed for 20 minutes, I should’ve prayed for 30. If all the people around me weren’t happy with me, I had done something wrong. I got to the place where it was draining me spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I sincerely wanted to be all that God intended me to be but it seemed like I could never do enough. Then, by gentle love and concern, through His Word, through prayer, and through a spiritual friend God brought me to a place of trust in His wonderful love and acceptance. Praise Jesus I don’t have to measure up because Jesus measured up for me! All praise to Jesus for His gentle and humble heart! Action Point Have you been racing through life lately? Maybe your mind is in a race? There are thoughts of not measuring up, not being good enough, or disappointing all those around you constantly running through your mind. Join me in trusting in God’s love and full acceptance in Jesus Christ! God doesn’t expect us to have things altogether, we never could. His arms are open wide to embrace you and for you to rest in His love. Let’s allow Jesus to lift the responsibility off of our shoulders and let Him take care of everything. Trust me; I think God has everything under control. Remember, when God looks at You He sees a perfectly clean child who has been washed in the blood of Jesus! It’s time to stop racing and to start resting in Jesus! God bless you my friend!
