Stopped watching 12 Years a Slave about 30 minutes after I started and realized I dont need nor want to watch artistic or real portrayals of my peoples history anymore. Ever. To watch movies on the Holocaust, a horrible period of history in our past, is one thing, but to watch movies on slavery, knowing that the slavery of Black people in varying forms continues today....is too much to bear.
