Stopping off to pick up a few items from being repaired and found myself in a shopping centre earlier this morning. As I was leaving something beckoned me to walk a lap of the place instead of going directly down the stairs to exit . I no sooner walk about 20 metres and my head recoils and there is Steve, a guy I went to Greece with in a student exchange when we were in year 9 at high school. He is a barista at this little hole in the wall coffee outlet and happy as larry having worked restaurants and large cafés and eateries and now it is just him and one other working and churning out the coffee. Whats special is that he was part of probably what I would rate as one of the life changing moments of my time on this spinning ball of life known as planet earth. That trip to Greece lit my passion for language, communication, people, heritage, culture, travel and food. Everything has been impacted by the impressions and experiences I gained and shared from that 6 week trip. So to see Steve reminds me of the depth of the well of experience that this opportunity gave me. My parents vision to insist that I go on this trip and leave home to experience the world can never be truly valued in $$$ terms , just in values and perspectives. Im currently lost in a web of memories and connections that one little random moment can bring. Life you can always pull a joker out of nowhere and I love that !!!
