Stories etc LIFE THEME #1 sooo, both of my parents were born in houston both on the southeast side in downtown shadows off old Harrisburg near the old maxwell house coffee factory. They met in highschool i think, mom in drill core at Austin High School Scottish Brigade trumpet player and dad baseball player ( catcher) at St Thomas High School the all boys high school over off shepherd drive. I can remember a photo of them from the 40s of dad with oil slicked flat top hair cut and a suit wearing tall white athletic socks ( stripe n all) and no it was not a halloween costume, it as some fancy school dance and athletic socks were all he probably had. Dad grew up in meager beginnings and would tell stories of bath time in a wash tub outside and sleeping every night of his youth on a screened in porch in Houston. He said they stuffed newspapers in the screening for insulation for winter nights and i always wondered how they slept outside in the summer nights. Sent from my iPhone
