Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CDT today... * winds... the powerful easterly winds to 60 knots that occurred behind a departing area of rain and thunderstorms were starting to diminish in spots. The wind will briefly turn west to northwest as well... as the low pressure behind the rain moves through. The strong winds will still affect Lutsen... Grand Marais... Ashland... and Saxon Harbor... then they will become lighter over the next hour or two. Winds were northwest at the Sky Harbor Airport... but remained strong out of the east at Two Harbors and Silver Bay as of 9 am. * Waves/seas... 12 to 18 feet will be the peak with the Max gusts. Precautionary/preparedness actions... This Storm Warning means winds around 50 knots are imminent or occurring. Recreational boaters should remain in port... or take shelter until winds and waves subside. Commercial vessels should prepare for very strong winds and dangerous sea conditions... and consider remaining in port or taking shelter in port until winds and waves subside.
