Story #715 J. Anon NOSY GOATMAN My friend J. told me about the call they received about an intruder looking threw a womans window one night. He said when they got there, the woman was terrified! She told them she was asleep when she heard someone walking around on her deck. It sounded like a person wearing platform shoes. She got up, turned on the light, opened the window to tell them to leave or she was calling the police. There wasnt any noise so she shut the window. Then the footsteps started up again. This time she saw red eyes looking at her threw a crack in the drapes. Whoever was out there kept walking around and around looking in every window. It stank too! She said it smelled like nasty outhouse, skunk, car oil, and burned cow crumbs (poop). It made a low growl and whistled really sharp! Then it started scratching at the door and muttering something she couldnt understand. It got quiet but she could hear it blowing out of its mouth--only exhaling, not inhaling. It made a low whistle sound when it exhaled. It walked around scratching the walls and windows. She was scared and called the tribal police. J. said they looked all around, saw the scratches on her house but didnt hear anything. There was a rancid smell in the air that was fading fast. They shined their lights all around but didnt see anything. They told the woman theyd patrol the area the rest of the night. It didnt come back but later that week someone saw something with big horns duck behind an old, abandoned car a few miles from the womans place. J. thinks it hides in old rez cars, thats why it smells like motor oil. It dug up a buried dog and took off with the corpse at another neighbors place. When the snow comes, it still seems to be active. A few people see its tracks and trails but the footsteps will just end without a trace.
