Story behind this photo – 154 – My son was kept over Shiridi Samdhi. Through a Divine vision and grace at Triyambakam Temple in Maharashtra, the diagnosis of a gynaecologist that my wife could not conceive again, proved wrong. Our first son was born. Within a year we went to Triyambakam, Nashik, and Shiridi. It was the year 1966. There will be about 30 to 40 devotees only when the Samadhi Mandir opened by early morning. All would have assembled near the locked grill gate of Mandir. The Priest will arrive, open and walk towards Maha Samadhi. All the devotees would walk along the Priest. The mosquito curtain would be raised and immediately Kakad Arathi will be offered. Thereafter, Abhishekam to the Idol and on Samadhi. The assembled devotees would be allowed to climb up the Samadhi and do abhishekam with milk, Rose water and water. Thereafter the Samadhi would be kept open for darshan. There will be literally no que at all, except whenever a bus load of devotees arrive there. That day after Abhishekam, we went to a restaurant , (Sami uncle’s Madrassi Hotel), for breakfast. Later we walked towards Mandir. There is small statue of “Nandi” at the entrance. In Shiva temples devotees would lean down or stretch to higher levels, and take Darshan of Lord Shiva through the middle of the horns of Nandi deva. Here also I attempted to take similar darshan. A long shot indeed. I had a strange feeling that Baba was looking at me. Baba seemed to stretch out his hands and ask me to give something to him. I was stunned. I could not believe myself. Was it true? In a dazed condition, I started moving towards Samadhi. The tickets had been purchased for special poojas. Family wise devotees were allowed to climb up the Samadhi again. The priest will chant Manthras and guide us to do Pooja. We were allowed to garland Baba’s Idol, and take namaskar at the Lotus feet. Suddenly like a flash, I could remember the Vision at Triyambakam Manidr a year ago, and also the latest vision of Baba asking me for something. Prompted by these I thoughts, I picked up my ten month old son, and placed him over the Flowers on the Samadhi. Nobody took objection for this action of mine. The Priest applied Chandan (sandal poaste) and kumkum on the forehead of my son as a blessing. There was a sequence to this wonderful phenomenon. Within a month or so, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was on a Divine visit to Mumbai, where we lived. We had come very late. Darshan was over and everybody had left the premises. Swami was in side that Bungalow and we were sitting in the garden outside. Unexpectedly Swami came out and was standing at the door steps. As a magnet would have drawn her, my wife ran towards Swami. She kept the child at His Lotus feet and started sobbing… And yes, that male child had since then grown up to be a young man. And he is Sri. Venkatesh Iyer. With Love & Regards, Mumbai Srinivasan.
