Story & question from a fan: CJS Last May I was working that - TopicsExpress

Story & question from a fan: CJS Last May I was working that annoying over night shift, just like any other, until my 911 phone rang and the person on the other line was screaming my name and screaming for help. A very good friend of mine returned home and found her boyfriend with a bullet wound to the head. Now I did what was needed during this call but broke down during it. Ive been told the call is heart breaking to listen to, I never have listened to it. Thank God the supervisor working that night knew and called my husband to come pick me up. I know you all receive hundreds of these and have visited with numerous dispatchers from many different areas. Here is my issue: when receiving calls like that after that horrible day, I freeze up to snap out of it after a few moments then I have to step away for a minute just to catch my breath. I feel like a rookie and even shake when this happens. What would you recommend doing? I dont think my department would put forth the funds for counseling due to the length of time. Thank you for reading my story and I appreciate any kind of advise you all may have.
