Story time. Sort of. I know I have told this story before, but it is a little gem. Storytelling runs in my family, as does painting word pictures. My Aunt Bonnie was gifted in this way. Aunt Bonnie loved her birds, and she set out feeders to attract them. As she got older, she would sit by her picture window and watch them out the window. One winter day, there had been an ice storm. The trees were bereft of leaves, ice covered the tops of branches, and icicles were hanging from every branch. The sun had come out and was setting on this frozen beauty in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Aunt Bonnie looked out, and there in one of the glistening, sparkling, frozen trees, with the sun setting behind it, were at least a dozen cardinals. Small things give great joy.
