Story time! You meet a lot of fun, interesting and random people when youre at a convention, and this story is about one of my all-time-favorites from a recent show. The show was pretty slow, so I had some extra time to talk and engage with people. On the second day of the show this guy comes into the booth and we do a little standard chit chat. He has sort of a nerdy professor look with a tweed coat and glasses, though he seems pretty young. After weve been talking for a few minutes, he sort of randomly points to one of my designs and says Id like one of those, please. A little odd, but not too unusual. As Im bagging it up, he tells me that hes working on a supervillain persona for himself - The Quizmaster! He is the master of riddles, and wants to know if Id like to try to answer one. Well, who could say no to a supervillain in training? I dont recall the riddle that he asked, but it was an original of his, and a bit obtuse so I completely missed it. Luckily he gave me a second chance, and asked a classic on that I knew (I think the answer was a secret). He then proceeds to open his wallet and says: You have bested me, and have earned this dollar in reward. SO: his supervillainy was asking riddles, giving multiple chances if you dont get the first one right, then giving you money if you win. I get the feeling that he went home considerably poorer, but made lots of peoples con more fun that day :)
