Straight Talk by Chaplain Mike If We Belong to This World We Have Alienated Ourselves From God. (Ephesians, 2:12) Do you find yourself being constantly stressed out over looking for fulfillment, pleasure and peace in the things of this old world? Why are we always in such a rush, but never actually going anywhere, or discovering true and lasting fulfillment? In Todays fast paced world, we are a people of immediacy, going, doing and trying to be somebody, caught up continually searching everywhere for satisfaction. We are forever seeking, and striving to discover personal fulfillment, by experimenting and experiencing various forms of pleasure, and passion. And, while we also long for the true peace that passes all understanding, Philippians 4:7, we are never quite able to hang onto, or completely possess it. We never will be able to discover true fulfillment, satisfaction and peace, apart from God, and His Son Jesus, because we all to often sadly seek in what can satisfy us, rather than in God alone, who will satisfy us. Once a person comes to know Jesus personally, through the spiritual re-birth He spoke of in John 3:3-8, and they turn their lives over to, and begin following Him, their endless, meaningless, exhausting pursuit for happiness, joy and peace, will at long last come to an end. The Apostle, Paul, wrote this; For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans, 14:17). And Jesus said this; “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need (Matthew,6:31-33). It is God Alone Who Brings True Satisfaction, Pleasure, Joy and Peace Are you still all stressed out and running around, looking everywhere for pleasure, joy and peace? Well, begin looking to the Lord, and you will look no more!
