Strange Pablo According to Meteorological Science no typhoon will - TopicsExpress

Strange Pablo According to Meteorological Science no typhoon will occur at and near the equator. However, for the first time in recorded history, a typhoon was generated at the most southwestern location in the Pacific Ocean. What was strange also was that the typhoon did not travel the usual northwest direction but towards the western direction that crosses the Island of Mindanao. Many places in Mindanao experienced a typhoon for the first time in recorded history. In fact it was not an ordinary typhoon but a super-typhoon. Secular Variation A secular variation is a natural phenomenon that occurs only once in a century. The earth produces a daily variation, a twenty-year variation, and a one-hundred year variation. A secular variation is already long enough to be forgotten by the people. Typhoon of 1912 If you will talk to old people in Bohol, they will always use the “Bagyo sa ’12 = Typhoon of 1912” as the reference of a strong typhoon. It was so strong that a vat (kawa) placed upside down on the ground was turned upright by the wind and blown hundred of meters away. When I listened to Television interviews of local people in Surigao and Eastern Davao, they compared Typhoon Pablo to the typhoon of 1912. So the typhoon on December 5-7, 2012 was really a 100-years cycle or secular variation. The main difference was that the 1912 typhoon passed through Eastern Davao, Surigao, Bohol, and Cebu. Last week’s typhoon took a westerly direction and crossed central Mindanao and no longer affected the main part of Bohol and Cebu.
