Strange foodie post this one because this place is much more about the atmosphere and the location than the grub. Baan Suan Kafe is a coffee house and restaurant and its fayre is pretty standard for Chiang Mai Thai Style places i.e sweet faux-cream cakes, average coffee and uninspired Thai dishes. The selling point of this place is that it is out in the jungle close to the Jasmine-obsessed Wat Phra That Doi Kham (out by the night safari). If you like to enjoy a slice of cake and a cup of char with the soundtrack of screaming cicadas then this is the place for you. To the front a chalkie river meanders by and to the rear tall green trees stretch towards the sky. Its is a lovely place although very much a commercial operation. It seems to be very popular with Thai families and almost unknown to the Farang world. Much the same could be said about the temple on the hill which is like Suthep but without the Chinese tourists. The view up there makes the journey (about 25 mins from the city) worthwhile. A great place for cyclists and Sunday afternoon trippers. No wi-fi. https://google.co.uk/maps/place/18%C2%B04535.9%22N+98%C2%B05449.1%22E/@18.7599661,98.9136427,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0?hl=en
