Strange how one minute you dont know its existence and then, its a massive part of your life. Exactly three years ago today I went to try a cheap workshop by Shannon and Trajano for a dance I had never heard of because I was bored with just dancing Salsa. The quick quick slow beat was hard to understand at first but now, words cannot describe the feeling I get when I hear Zouk music. I had so many wonderful experiences and met awesome people including my sweet Frista (aka sister from another mister) Emily Forrozeira Thyberg who I met on that first day. I am so grateful to have her friendship. She is an example of how Zouk has brought so much joy to my life, really reinvigorated it, made me not just a better dancer but a better worker by giving me some balance and a better person by teaching me to care for the total stranger that I have in a close embrace. Seriously this is why I make every effort to share this with all of you. Happy friendship anniversary to an awesome friend and the awesome dance that made our lives intersect.
