Strange one today. Refitted my engine after rebuilding last weekend. Today I set the valve gaps properly and proceeded to get it running. It would only run on 3 cylinders and having done all the normal stuff (swapping plugs, leads, dizzy cap and even rotor arm) it just wouldnt spark on number 3. Turned out that the Pertronix Ignition was the root cause. I suspect maybe the plastic collar that fits over the cam in the dizzy has lost a magnet during the rebuild (or something like that). Havent investigated that yet. Solution for today was fitting points and a condenser - after which I had a good spark on all 4 and the engine is sounding pretty good so far. Hopefully will get it out for a drive next weekend and if it proves reliable can get it off to its Winter home so I can get on with the jobs I planned to be doing on the other car.
