Strange petroglyphs found carved on boulders at a site on Winnemucca l Lake, Nevada, could be the oldest ever found in the United States. They date somewhere between 10,800 years and 14,800 years according to dating evidence provided by the layers of carbonate "beneath" the carvings, which remain a complete mystery. If they are 14,800 years old, this places them before the Younger Dryas impact event of 12,900 years ago, which is interesting. On the other hand, they might post-date the cataclysm, which mostly affected the American continent, so could record some response to it by the indigenous population.
