Strangest Dream of All What was the strangest about the dream - TopicsExpress

Strangest Dream of All What was the strangest about the dream was it was not about something big or exciting. And it was very clear as if it was happening in real life. For lack of better name I just call it Dream June 01, 2014. It was a message in clear words presented to me: “for we must live our lives based on reality but it is far more inspiring/exciting to have even just a glimpse of what it would be like provided in poetry.” These were the exact words and in English. It was as if someone was dictating these words to me; it was more auditory with no images or anything or I didn’t see any images of persons or places I know. But in this dream I was quite ecstatic (ng kmal mlo tmeu a renguk) and that I immensely thanked God for this revelation as in a prayer. This dream came to me a little before the crack of dawn when I usually get up. When I woke up, I felt the need to write these words on paper first time ever from a dream. I cannot honestly say that I know what this message is for and what exactly it means. But I must say that I am deeply amazed for these words because I just like good explanation for what is or not in this life. I am usually satisfied when I truly understood the forces, whether good or bad, that affected my life in anyway. Being such, I have always been on the lookout for effective and meaningful expressions in words or in art that can help me understand or rather appreciate whatever was presented to me in this life. I must say that my life has been filled by both happiness and good many painful struggles and experiences. I think I understand the first part of the sentence because it is very straightforward. But it is the second part of this message that is both mysterious and exciting to me because though I do not know what it means I can make attempts in coming up with what it really means. The key word is poetry. What can poetry offer to make me understand anything let alone my life? One thing I know of poetry is the artful using or playing with words to bring out and heighten the imagination of writers and readers alike on beauty or sentiments like love, fear, anger, sadness, hope, and courage in ways that is truly magical and impressive. I guess this dream is reminding me of the fact that there seems to be endless silence in many areas of life in Palau and that we need to look harder into what makes us Palauans uniquely Palauan, and more importantly, happy people. We need those, who have been gifted with words or talents, to come out more often to provide us that glimpse of what it would be like if we were to reach such heights of euphoria (ngarbab el dauch er a deureng) as a society. We need to be inspired and hope that better days are coming to us; we need to believe that our children’s children future will be better than ours. I suppose that we need people to come out and convince us that we have a purpose as people, we have a direction to pursue, and we have a goal to reach as Palauan people. Now that I am awake, I can say that we lack the poetry to state these to ourselves so that we can be motivated to rise above our daily struggles because we believe in a better future. Remember this is to understand a strange dream, so if you’re confused, you are not alone.
