Strangulation at LBS, lack of support or poor management? In - TopicsExpress

Strangulation at LBS, lack of support or poor management? In Liberia , the state radio Liberia broadcasting system is currently shut down. Radio veritas quotes state radio chief Ambrose mahn as saying the shut down is as a result of fuel . LBS has been shut down since news of Ebola outbreak surfaced in Liberia. But what really is the peoplem, lack of proper management or lack of support ? LBS is amongst the many public corporations that receives limited budget support, reports day the system receives less than one million US dollar every budget year with a staff of over fifty, this is very Small for a system that got a setup accross the country to boost its signal in my thinking, but the system itself raises fund in addition to the budgetary support it gets, international media institutions like the BBC pays an annual fees to the system to rebroadcast its programs, China radio for example does same, now the question is are these supports still forthcoming? If yes then why is the system off, where are these supports going, can these supports be used to add up to what govt offers to improve the system, can the goverment improve the budgetary support of the state radio? I certainly think so, its better to do so then to strangulate the system, if the budget is low because the legislature or some of its members have problems with those appointed at the system expecially its director Ambrose mahn , then they should be opting for their removal and bringing in people they think can properly handle the system instead of depriving the citizenry their rights to be informed. I stongly feel the mine hundred thousand given to LBS yearly is a drop in the ocean and needs to be increased, eventhough similar amount or less than that was provided the Charles snytter administration and the system flourished , I still think that much can be done to help LBS stand again
