Strategies N Tactics; The Charger understanding the five Archetypes As week end the week with the intro to the charger fighter we will now cover more of the strategies n tactics on how to become an effective charger. Ive said the charger is an explosive n relentless attacker. He uses speed n swarming attacks to overwhelm you. He gets his power through locomotion and momentum. He also uses predatory like ft work enabling him to continuously chase you, this allows him to stay balanced and in position while moving and striking. The charger is certainly going to use power but it doesnt come from leverage or rotational power. But more form forward momentum, usually locomotion (Sprint n hit analogy). So lets continue on with learning how to become a charger... Lets go through some of dis advantages to using the charger concepts. !. Develop a non telegraphic guard/stance where you can locomote from enabling you to move your body in both linear n lateral directions. You must use your drive leg. 2. Develop a powerful Jab and Cross combo as well as other linear orientated strikes. this doesnt mean you dont use circular strikes. It just means you want to develop very direct attacks at first, and linear strikes are more direct and less telegraphic than circular ones. 3. Practice your strikes with your loaded-stance. Work on throwing explosive combinations (in combos of twos, three and fours) while covering short distances. But dont throw yourself out of position! keep your your upper body connected to your lower body. Alos keep your centerline. 4. Keep chin tucked, arms loaded like coil springs, knees bent and a active drive/brace leg thru entire process. Learn to deliver synergistic energy in short spurts. Do this is on moving heavy bag or have a partner hold a focus pad, or even in shadow boxing. 5. Use any or all types of footwork that keeps you moving in any direction thus allowing you to continuously swram the target with explosive striking. altenmartialartsfitness/aspx/ammat.aspx
