Street Improvements Start Next Week The City of Pilot Point is scheduled to begin work on its street improvement projects during the week of Monday, August 19th. Construction work will take approximately one month. The project will consist of street repairs, leveling and a chip (rock) seal coating. Many citizens do not like the chip seal because it can be rough and not as smooth as a hot mix road. The hot mix asphalt road has problems with cracking due to the soil in our area, and this can lead to road failure and potholes. The chip seal or rock coated road improvements are more flexible and last longer in our area. The finish chip or rock seal will be a small rock to help provide a smoother finish. Over the next month, until about mid September, residents should not park on the road during the day for the streets that will be under construction. It would be better to park cars away from the road so that they do not get asphalt spray on them. The streets proposed for work includes all or portions of the following streets: North of Washington E. Peel Street, Hickory Drive, High Point Drive, N. St Charles, Park Lane, St. Paul Lane, St. James Circle, N S. James Road, N. Yarbrough Street, and Anna Street. North West Pilot Point Jordan Moore Road, W. Holford Street, N Dallas Street, W. Broad Street, Scott Lane, Cooper Street, N. Church Street, N. Laramie Circle, N. Sierra Trail, and W. Main Street. South Pilot Point Lawson Lane, S. Morrison Street, Aubrey Street. W. White Street, E White Street, Key Street, Flake Street, Wayside Circle and E. Fairlane Drive. The City will work to use available funding for street repairs and improvements. Some streets may be added or postponed depending upon how the project goes and how much it costs to repair some of the streets. The City will try to put out notices for residents to move parked cars off the road prior to street work beginning. The City is in the process of identifying streets that will need work for next year as well as we try to catch up on street repair, improvement and maintenance work.
