Street Scenes from my Neighborhood -- If I walk out my hotel and away from the rodeo drive thats my front yard, I find the shops, vendors and kiosks that the locals go to for the everyday things of life, like flowers, fruit and groceries. The kiosks are but 12 feet wide and 24 feet deep (including storage area and bathroom). This is a lower-middle to upper middle class area. The bikes are nicely arrayed, there are containers holding flowers, the asphalt is newly paved. And yeah, every first floor of every street is nothing but kiosks with an occassional hospital or bank or pre-K thrown in. Zoning for feighborhoods are arranged vertically -- the first floor for retail, the second for white collar services, the third floor for working class flats and the upper floors for the upper crust -- you get more sun and fresh air.
