Stress can be categorized as psychological or physiological. Every time we workout we stress our body, in a good way! However, our body cannot distinguish between these two stressors. This causes an immediate response in the body called flight or flee. This response is characterized by increasing heart rate, breathing rate, body temperature, blood flow, and muscle tension. If the stress is too prolonged or intense, our body can enter an exhaustive stage, which can lead to illness or disease. Excessive stress can be detrimental regardless of the source. Therefore it is imperative we limit our psychological stress and overtraining. Active recovery is crucial for a healthy individual and doing things you love to do around positive people will guarantee a long and healthy life!
