Stretching, soft tissue work with a lacrosse ball or foam roller, massage therapy, chiropractics, corrective exercise, and even nutritional intervention to reduce inflammation can all work to improve pain. Hell, even orthotics and braces can assist and help with removal of pain. But this is only the beginning of fixing the problem. If you have a dysfunctional movement pattern the we need to break that pattern down to clean up the broken part with an intervention above. Then you must create a new motor pattern to accomplish the same task or you will go back to the pattern that caused the pain. Usually the pain will just travel and instead of your knee it will be your hip. Many times we use chiropractics, massage, or soft tissue work as just another ibuprofen. These things do not fix the problem. The problem is your shitty movement patterns.
