Strife or Life? Its sad how some people have made a living out of strife. Heres the meaning of strife: angry or bitter disagreement over fundamental issues; conflict. strife within the community synonyms: conflict, friction, discord, disagreement, dissension, dispute, argument, quarreling, wrangling, bickering, controversy In The early 1990s I worked at one of the first all news/all talk, conservative radio stations. Prior to that, it had been one of the best Christian music and ministry stations in Charlotte North Carolina. Very soon all of the ones who had been on staff at the previous station quit. Suddenly, with the new hires, we went from having a staff that was loving and nurturing to a staff that was argumentative and cutthroat. Why do you think that happened? Personally, I believe that spirit of strife not only attracted but also came in through the new staff from what was being sent out on the airwaves - And most likely also entered into the homes that were receiving it via the airwaves. I used to like to watch Fox news a lot. However, I got tired of the hollering and bickering. I appreciate being informed, but I do not believe all of the strife is necessary. I am a peaceloving person. All of that other stuff gets on my nerves. Some people like to joke around via insults to one another. There are even some comedians who make their living off of insulting others. I dont consider that to be my choice for entertainment. The word of God tells us, But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another. (Galatians 5:15) Also, that satan is the accuser: Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. (Rev. 12:10) The Bible tells us that, Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Prov. 18:21) Listen, being informative is one thing. Being a strife bearer is another, and carries that spirit with it. The way to tell the difference is how you feel on the inside afterward. If something stirs you up emotionally to the point that you are also dragged into conflict and division, that lets you know that you have picked up on that spirit. When my children were little, there was one certain group of people that used to come over to our house with their children. When they would leave, my children would be very disobedient and sarcastic to me. I finally figured out why. It was because the spirit that was on those children and that family came into my house with them. Many times after the best times at church, ministry families will leave church and get into a big fight in the car in the parking lot and even fight and argue at home the rest of the day. It is because hitchhiking spirits came off of those they were ministering to and went home with them. I learned after some serious ministry sessions to pray that God would wash me of any hitchhiking spirits. In fact, I learned to pray that over my home after certain people were there and left. It sure spared me and my family of the results of the strife that happened from having had that spirit enter into my house through our houseguests. So all of that to say, be careful of what you allow into your home. Whether it is through the airwaves or people that may bring it into your home. Especially now at the holidays. Make sure you pray and plead the blood of Jesus over your home that God would protect your home from unwanted nasty spirits as you entertain during the season. Also, pray that God washes it and all of you from any hitchhiking spirits when people leave. And if you have cell groups that meet in your home, pray that way also on a regular basis. You will notice a big difference and experience a greater level of peace.
